2023 Co-Curricular Sport Sign-On

Sport Sign-On 2023

To ensure we have accurate numbers of players wanting to participate in sport so we can nominate teams to the AIC competitions and allocate coaches / training venues and training schedules, selection for Term 1 sport will open 6am Thursday 13 October and close Sunday 30 October 2022

Trials and training will commence for some sports in the second half of Term 4 and/or during the school holidays.

Term 1 Sports on Offer:
  • AFL
  • Cricket
  • Volleyball
  • Swimming

There are some instances where your son can participate in multiple sports (aside from swimming which can always be chosen as a 2nd sport), however, this is based on numbers signed up to play and may not be possible. Please email the Sports Department to be placed on a second sport waiting list. Please read the information below carefully to check for conflicts. Once you have signed your son on to the relevant chosen sport/s, you will be emailed information regarding any Term 4 pre-season trials and training. All Term 1 communication will be managed through the school Realm App.

If you are late to sign on or change your mind, your son may be placed on a waiting list for that sport and only accepted if numbers in teams allow.

Selection Trials

Trial Selections for 2023 Year 5 will occur in January 2023 and early Term 1.  Details will be emailed once dates confirmed.

Selection sessions / trials and preseason training may take place for 2023 Years 6-12 in Weeks 4-7 of Term 4, 2022.  Your son will be invited to attend as many as possible to ensure selection coaches have the best possible opportunity to grade appropriately. This is also a great opportunity for new students to meet some new friends.

Notification of selections will occur in Term 1. Those players missing out on selection will be placed on waiting lists and notified if opportunity to join playing squads arises.

If you are unable to attend any trials sessions, please contact the Sports Department asap as it may affect your ability to be placed into a training squad for Term1.

Players who are not selected to play in Term 1 in their chosen sport, can request to be placed on a waitlist for an alternative sport if numbers allow.

Sport Expectations

Signing up to a sport is a confirmation that you will participate in all training and games required for the entire term. Unexplained absences will be noted and parents advised.  Team selections will take commitment and attendance as well as ability and skills into account.

School Sport v Club Sport

If your son signs up to play Sport for the school, the expectation is that School Sport comes first over any club sport commitments. Students are expected to attend training each week and to be available for all fixtures during the season. If you have any questions about this or you would like to discuss potential clashes, please contact the sports office.

'A' TEAM EXPECTATIONS

If your son is selected in an A team, attendance is mandatory to all training sessions each week for the duration of the season. It is not acceptable to leave training early to go to club training.

If your son is in Year 7, 8, 9 or 10, it is also expected that he be a member of the Athlete Development Programme for his respective Year group. These sessions are designed with long-term athlete development in mind and are an essential part of training to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

Training Uniform: St Patrick's College Sports Shirt and HPE Shorts
Game day Uniform: Students are expected to be in full Sports Specific uniform once the AIC competition season has started.  The Merchandise store can advise further, please email merchandisestore@stpatricks.qld.edu.au
