Languages

Indonesia is our nearest neighbour to the north and is of growing importance given our increasing cultural, economic, security and political ties. The Indonesian taught at St. Patrick’s College is the language that unifies 17,000 islands in Indonesia.

Students at St. Patrick’s College are given the opportunity to study Indonesian from Years 5 to 12. Studying a language is an important skill for many career options. Participation in co-curricular activities such as speech competitions is encouraged.

Students from Years 10 – 12 studying Indonesian at the College also have the opportunity to participate in a trip to Indonesia.

It should also be noted that some universities offer a bonus ranking incentive to students who have studied a language to Year 12.
