Health & Physical Education

Health & Physical Education is a dynamic, highly personalised study of sport and physical activity from the perspective of both the performer and wider society. It allows students to explore the role of sport and exercise science within the sporting context.

Students are able to perform such tasks as: developing/assessing their own training programs to improve touch football performance; performing a biomechanical analysis of their ‘smash’ in badminton; and examining the role of sports marketing in the development of surf lifesaving and other sporting commodities.

Students are able to explore such tasks through the use of the latest software and training aids. This includes the ‘Dartfish’ program, a biomechanical computer aid used by some of Australia and the world’s elite sporting teams. We also use some of the latest theoretical software and training devices to allow students the ability to explore Sport and Exercise Science.

Whilst a large part of Health & Physical Education in Years 5-10 is designed to prepare students for Senior Physical Education, we also offer a Certificate III in Fitness. This alternative Senior Subject allows students to complete a TAFE accredited and industry recognised certificate that enables employability within the fitness industry.
