English

The St. Patrick’s College English Program attempts to ensure that students become confident, autonomous, effective users of language, not only within the subject and the College, but also in their wider world.

The College offers a literature based program in which students encounter a range of text types and experiences. Through the provision of a variety of authentic language experiences, proficiency is developed in language skills and thinking. The St. Patrick's College English Program aims to ensure that each student is equipped with the linguistic and critical competencies needed to become self-directed learners who demonstrate the capacity for complex thinking, effective communication and aesthetic awareness and appreciation. The many forms of literacy that are evident in our world require more of students than ever before. The St. Patrick’s College English Program seeks to ensure that students are given the skills they need in order to effectively engage and critically respond to this increasingly complex world.
