Football (Soccer) at St. Patrick's College has developed into one of the fastest growing and exciting sports within our College community. With the assistance and support of coaching and development programs with the Brisbane Roar, student numbers have increased across Years 5 to 12.
Commencing in 2009, St. Patrick's Football forged a relationship with the Brisbane Roar in the development of a joint Football program that is projected to have continued growth into the future. The College has also formed a good relationship with local clubs as well.
The relationship with the Brisbane Roar has also seen Mr Josh McCloughlan (former Roar player) take up the role of Director of Football for 2011 and beyond. This position allows Mr McCloughlan to coordinate the coaching of all Football at the College and utilize his knowledge and associations as a recently retired professional player to all St. Patrick's Football players.
Football tours have also become a major highlight to the annual Football calendar with our Under 14s touring to Canberra, Under 16s to New Zealand and our First XI Football Squad competing in the annual TSS Football Tournament.
Coupled with our tours and AIC competition, we also enter an Under 14 team and an Open team in the annual ISSA Cup and Uhlsport Cup respectively.
All games are played on Saturday with home games being played at Curlew Park.
2009 was the first year that St Patrick's College First XI Football Squad participated in the TSS Football Tournament on the Gold Coast. In our inaugural year the squad was victorious and named the overall winners of the tournament.
Past student Adam Edgar was recently selected to attend the illustrious Nike Football Academy, which is based in England's national football centre at St George's Park in Burton-upon-Trent. Adam was selected as part of a worldwide competition to be Nike's Most Wanted.
