This Saturday will see the last round of AIC fixtures of Football and Rugby played against Padua College in the Back to Banyo round at Padua College Fields Banyo. The weekend will see a number of our teams, if results are positive, win Premierships. During our College Assembly on Tuesday, both Mr Mayes and Mr Kearney outlined expectations for the young men as they go into this important round. We have been formally invited and are guests of Padua College. This Saturday is also an important day for the Padua community as they will dedicate a small part of the day to a staff member who passed away earlier in the week.
It is a very emotional time for all Year 12 students who will play their last fixture in the Green and Gold. It will be an equally emotional time for all the parents who have sat on the sideline supporting their son and the College over the many years.
Our challenge for the weekend is to have more supporters than Padua so let’s adhere to the phrase If You Play You Stay to support all teams, in particular the 1st XI Football and 1st XV Rugby. Congratulations to the eleven young men from the 1st XV Rugby Team who have been selected in the AIC Representative Rugby Team.
Finally, as we have been welcomed by Padua College at their Back to Banyo day, it is important that all players and supporters show respect to match officials and our opponents whatever the result maybe.
During Term 3, Mr Tucker, Kennedy House Dean will be taking leave, in his absence Mr Finlay Lester will take over the responsibility of Acting House Dean Kennedy.
The College also welcomes Mr Chris Herrod who has been appointed as the Program Leader – Vocational Education and Training. Mr Herrod has a wealth of experience in the area of Vocational Education and Training, he is currently the Principal of the Australian Technical College at Scarborough. He will commence his employment at the beginning of Term 3.
