It has been a busy and largely successful start to Term 2 for St Patrick’s College’s debating program.

The Year 11.1 teams registered a resounding six point victory in a short preparation debates in round 3 of the QDU competition at Craigslea State High School on Wednesday night. The 11.2 team lost by three points in a gallant showing for a team who had not completed a short preparation debate before.

The college’s Year 9 team achieved a solid two point victory against St Columban’s College in a short preparation debate on Wednesday night, led by an outstanding performance from Sean Affleck.

Last week, the 8.1 team suffered a three point loss to Nudgee College in round 2 of the QDU competition heats.

Debating returns to St Patrick’s next week with the College hosting Year 10 fixtures on Wednesday night. The Year 12 team will be in action on Wednesday at Brisbane Grammar School.

Chess Club Times

  • Week 4 - Public Holiday Monday - COMBINED Junior and Senior Chess Club on Tuesday.
  • Week 5 - Year 12 Afternoon - encouraged to attend Tuesday Chess Club
  • Week 6 - No Year 12 students due to KAIROS
  • Week 7 - COMBINED Junior and Senior Chess Club on Monday (in Library). OPEN DAY - Tuesday
  • Week 8 - Normal Chess Club

Chess News

Last Friday we started our AIC season with a Round 1 win but Villanova fought back in Round 2 to defeat us 35-45. This week we take on St Peter’s Lutheran College in Waterford Building at 4pm on Friday.

Chess Club will not be held on Monday May 7 due to the Public Holiday. Combined Junior and Senior Chess Club will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm.

Mother’s Day Stall

The Cultural Support Group will be holding the Mother's Day Stall on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 May 2018 at morning tea and lunch time in the breezeway area outside the Student Office. Please keep these dates in mind and check the notice boards for ideas on what gift you might like to buy for your Mum. Prices will range from $1.50 - $10.00.
