From the Deputy Principal
I would certainly like to welcome all families back from the Easter break. I hope it was a time to energise and relax before we begin another term. I would like to introduce two new staff members who commenced their journey with us.
- Ms Sarah Lodder (Teacher of Maths Science Year 5/6/8)
- Ms Nina Lau (Teacher of Maths Year 9-11)
Over the break, a number of sporting tours occurred in addition to Football and Rugby clinics being held at Curlew Park. It was great to receive positive feedback from the staff who attended and ran these events. I would like to thank the staff who gave up their time to support these events.
This week at Assembly I reminded all students that Shore 2 Gate money and cards need to be finalised over the coming weeks. The cut off day for prizes will be Friday 4 May 2018. It was a community event, however there is a group of young men who have not returned their cards or the minimum contribution. It would be appreciated if parents could follow this up and either have money handed into the main office or deposited online.
This week, we also saw the introduction of our cashless system at the College Tuckshop. I am grateful for the support of the parent body in this new initiative. It is important to be aware that by the end of Week 2 no cash will be accepted at the College Tuckshop. Students will also be able to use their ID card to purchase items at Curlew Park using the same system.
On Tuesday 24 April, we will as a community commemorate Anzac Day with a ceremony on the waterfront. The ceremony will commence at approximately 8:45am once boys are settled. We have taken the opportunity to invite members of the local community to our ceremony as we pay tribute to all the servicemen and women that contributed to the building of our great nation. Members of our community are certainly welcome to join us, please bring a chair if required. We also extend an invitation to all students and families to be present at the local Sandgate Anzac Day Ceremony. The College has a very good tradition in having a large number of students marching in full school uniform. If your son is interested in attending they will need to be at the Sandgate RSL at 8:30am in full school uniform including their hat. I would recommend a water bottle as it does get warm. Our College Band will be marching and Mitchell Bell will be playing the Last Post during the ceremony.
