Music Performance Night

This coming Tuesday March 13 we have our Senior Ensembles Music Evening in the Christian Brothers Building commencing at 6:30pm. Our top 8 ensembles will be featured throughout the night and our program will conclude at 7:45pm. You and your family are most welcome to attend and enjoy seeing our young men perform. For those of a similar vintage to me, you’ll hear We Built This City, Crazy Train and The Final Countdown. If you are of a more mature vintage, you’ll hear Superstition by Stevie Wonder. To the slightly younger crowd, you’ll hear Pier Pressure perform Scattered. Of course this is all interspersed with a great range of musical styles and genres to enjoy throughout the evening. See you there.

A foretaste: We Built This City

Year 12 Report

On Wednesday night, the Year 12.1 debating team travelled into Spring Hill to face Padua at Brisbane Grammar School.

We were the affirmative side of the topic, “We should ban The Bachelor”.

In the weeks leading up to the debate we spent our time researching points, creating arguments, brainstorming ideas and coming up with potential points of information.

We set out on the night with three strong speakers: Nicholas Easey, Tom Kelman and Maxwell Freedman, who all spoke very well.

Unfortunately, in an extremely close fought battle, we lost to Padua College.

The swell is building as we prepare to defend our AIC Championship.During February eight of our Senior Players trekked to Churchie for the Brisbane Interschool Chess Championships. Yet again our young men showed their mettle as they battled against GPS and EQ schools. We fielded teams in Division A and Division B.Our A Team (Benjamin Peachey, Jack Bolton, River Brunsmann and Mason Brown) were up against extremely talented opposition including the current Queensland Junior Champion. These gentlemen showed great skill and courage and certainly did a fine job.

Our B Team (Jack Tobe, Oliver Howe, Oscar O’Brien and Sean Grew Figuerola) were at their most awesome and came away victors. These gentlemen were acknowledged at this weeks assembly were they received their Championship medallions.

Next week brings the annual College Chess Championships which is open to all students. With three divisions held over three days this is a great warm-up for the upcoming AIC season. There will be no regular Chess Club next week.

We are counting down until AIC!
