One of our goals for the music program at St. Patrick's College is to see quality music making. Quality is a result of determined, focused effort. With this in mind I'd like to review a recent performance and look ahead to the upcoming Music Performance Night.

At this week's College Assembly students and staff were treated to the Year 8 classroom Music ensemble directed by Mr Andrew Will. This group is made up of students from one of Mr Will's curricular Music classes. Their performance of 'Electric Avenue' on percussion, including drums, xylophones, glockenspiels and guitar showcased the result of regular practices – up to several weeks. The students and Mr Will have shown how an ensemble can perform, even though only a few weeks have past, great things can be achieved. For those who missed it, the ensemble will repeat their performance at the College Assembly next Tuesday, 9:45am.

Our co-curricular ensembles encompassing strings, brass and woodwind, percussion, and guitars have been rehearsing each week in preparation for a number of events later in the year. The Music Performance Night that was scheduled for Monday 16 March has been rescheduled for Tuesday 28 April at 6:30pm. The night focuses on our co-curricular ensembles as well as highlights from individuals and smaller groups.

Students attending weekly music lessons will notice changes from last year. All lessons are now 25 minutes, and are on a fixed timetable. Please continue to consult the Music Department page on CONNECT for details - Connect- Music Page - Click Here»
