On Monday night our four College Leaders attended the Bramble Bay District Lions Youth of the Year Contest. This annual event is an opportunity for aspiring young people with a community mind to speak on issues that are important to them. On the night our young men spoke eloquently on topics including leadership, service and homelessness not to mention the dreaded "short prep" topics where you are given 2 minutes to respond to a question that you have no idea what will be asked; this year saw topics on young people, multi-tasking and bullying prevention.

Although our young men spoke well, they were justly beaten by a young lady from Sandgate High whose talk on cancer captivated everyone in the room. I would like to make a special mention of Mrs Robyn Donaldson whose tireless efforts to assist and prepare our young men was noted by both the young men and also through the Lions Club, with a special mention of her dedication and commitment to helping young people prepare for the event. I would like to congratulate our young men on speaking so very well and I know our entrants next year will be better for the invaluable feedback we received this year.
