Queensland Youth Music Awards

The Junior Concert Band performed at the Queensland Youth Music Awards on Monday 15 May this term. The ensemble travelled by bus together to Ferny Grove State School, stopping at MacDonald’s on the way for dinner of course! The other schools competing came from all over Queensland and the standard of all groups was extremely high. The Junior Concert Band, led by Miss Monique Matthews, did extremely well, being awarded a Bronze Certificate. The boys also gained some very valuable experience performing and had the great opportunity to listen to many other schools perform.

It was great to see such enthusiasm and eagerness from all boys involved. Thanks must also go to Brother Chris Pritchard who helped with transportation of students and Mr Kane McNally who helped with transportation, organisation and setting up of the stage and supervision on the day.

Mother's Day Stall

Once again, the Mother’s Day Stall run by the Cultural Support Group was a great success! Thank you to all those who volunteered their time in preparation for the stall and also those who assisted over the two days. A special thank you to Ms Carmel Moir for her time and effort in co-coordinating this for our students. It was lovely to see the boys thoughtfully choosing gifts for the special women in their lives. We hope all the mums had a wonderful Mother’s Day and enjoyed the gifts chosen by your sons. Approximately $850 was raised and will go towards supporting the College’s Cultural Program.

Thank you for your continued support.
