It was a massive day last Saturday against St Laurence’s College. Despite the rain showers in the middle of the day, it was tremendous to have all teams playing at Curlew Park. The students did themselves proud by moving around the different fields cheering on their school mates. Both 1st Football and Rugby teams continued their undefeated run. Our senior teams also are performing very strongly recording victories. The Paddy's Battalion were again in full voice. This week all games are to be hosted by Marist College Ashgrove. Although a little harder logistically, we still need students to stay and support SPC teams. Don’t forget to pack formal uniform.

It was disappointing to be informed of a small part of our community becoming involved in negative ‘banter’ with opposition supporters. Saturday sport is school sport and we need to keep this in perspective when supporting our young men.

The students are reinforced weekly of the message that whatever the others do, WE DON’T!

Each Tuesday, Mr Darren Kearney and I chair the Sports Judiciary, along wit the Sport Coordinators and College 1st captains. The judiciary is to challenge students who have been reported for unsportsmanlike conduct on or off the field during sport. Students are sent an email communication requesting their attendance. On most occasions the student is issued a warning after having discussed the issues and formulating a positive plan to move forward. Unfortunately, we do have players suspended from playing because of their actions. A red card in nearly every situation is an automatic one week suspension. Physical violence as per our SPC rules also carries suspension. Any student who is suspended from competition games will have an email communication sent to the recorded family email address.

Sport Support Group

The Sport Support Group were very thankful for the large response to their request for assistance. BBQ cooks and serving behind the counter duties where taken up for the entire day. Information regarding the distribution of funds from the canteen are always discussed at the regular monthly Sport Support Meeting held on the first Monday of the month. The next meeting is Monday 5 June. Please email Chairperson, Mr Matt Grinlaubs, or Secretary, Br Chris Pritchard, for further information. Everyone is welcome to come along and help support our sporting program. Thanks again to those parents who helped last Saturday.
