Over the coming months, Year 10 students will commence the process of selecting subjects for Year 11 and 12. This process will culminate on Friday 18 August, when Year 10 students, their parents and a staff mentor will meet to discuss these subject choices.

In order to prepare students to undertake this important process, the College will take them through a number of activities, the first of these will take place on Tuesday, 23 May. Commencing at 6:00pm, a local firm, Business Improvements Australia, will open the subject selection process. BIA have been contracted by the College to assist Year 10 students and parents. Originally from the mining sector, BIA are experts in aptitude testing and career direction. They will run a series of tests with our Year 10 students designed to give insight into their strengths, weaknesses and abilities. This data is compiled and students and parents are provided with a detailed report on which career path best suits particular students.

This testing will take place in early June. In weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3, BIA will return. During these two weeks, their Career Guidance Counsellors will undertake a 90 minute one-on-one meeting with each Year 10 student. I would encourage all Year 10 students and parents to attend this information evening.

This will be the first of two information evenings. As per the College calendar, we will meet again on Monday 7 August for more specific information regarding the subject selection process. I will provide more information regarding this evening closer to the time.
