The College’s Year 8 Debating teams enjoyed a successful night at Genesis Christian College last night.
The 8.2 team scored a narrow one-point victory in a high quality debate where they argued the negative of the topic “That smoking should be banned for all people born after 2015.” Sean Affleck was the stand-out performer as first speaker.
Bergen O’Neill impressed as first speaker in the 8.1’s two-point victory over St Columban’s College arguing the affirmative side of the same topic. Brendan Law showed tremendous poise in the challenging third speaker role in his first ever debate.
The Year 11 team is back in action at Craigslea State High School next week while both Year 9 debates have been postponed to a date to be fixed to accommodate Parent Teacher Interviews.

Friday is the first round of AIC Chess with an away game at Villanova. This year our team looks extremely strong and we are hoping for an impressive result.
Last Friday we played host to some players from Nudgee College. This was a great way to prepare for the season with some hard fought matches with very talented opponents.
