QDU Debating

Debating returned to St Patrick’s on Wednesday night with the College playing host to round one of the Year 10 and 12 QDU competition.

The Ccollege’s 12.2 outfit led by Douglas McLachlan lost to a strong St Paul’s School team despite valiant efforts, particularly from third speaker Josep Grew Figuerola. St Patrick’s argued the negative side of the motion, “That the United States should grant Edward Snowden amnesty.” The boys were cheered on by an enthusiastic support group of Year 11 and 12 students.

The college’s 12.1 and 10.1 teams both had their opposition schools seek a postponement of their respective debates until later this month.

Our Year 8 teams kick off their QDU competition next Wednesday at Genesis Christian College - details below.

Year 8.1 Team are the Negative Team and will verse Bribie Island State High School at 7:00pm on March 15 2017 at Genesis Christian College. The topic will be: That, if we could choose, we would rather be famous.

Year 8.2 Team are the Affirmative Team and will verse Craigslea State High School at 7:00pm on March 15 2017 at Genesis Christian College. The topic will be: That, if we could choose, we would rather be famous.
