Cultural Capers Week 6
All students interested in playing chess or learning how to play are welcome to attend Chess Club.
Senior Chess Club for students in Years 9 to 12 will be held on Monday afternoons from 3pm to 4:30pm
Junior Chess Club for students in Years 5 to 8 will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 3pm to 4:15pm
Expert coaching will be provided by Mr Mark Stokes of Redcliffe Chess Club.
Afternoon tea, cordial and biscuits, will be provided. You may bring an alternative snack if needed.
Chess Club is a fun environment where you can learn the skills to play for the College in the AIC competition in Term 2.

The St Patrick’s College debating season kicked off last night with the Year 11 and Year 9 teams competing in Round one of the Queensland Debating Union heats.
In a close contest, the Year 11 team made up of speakers Sean Dobson, Nicholas Easey and Max Freedman went down by two points to Sunshine Coast Grammar School at Craigslea State High School. Nicholas Easey impressed in his second speaker role.
Across town at Albany Creek State High School, the 9.2 team lost by one point to Murrumba Downs State College despite the efforts of all speakers, especially Nash Romabon. The 9.1 team beat Northside rivals Padua by two points led by the efforts of Jared Noble.
Next week sees Year 12 and 10 debating hosted at St Patrick’s, with the Year 12 team led by college debating captain Samuel Hanelt beginning their season. Details below.
Year 10 are the Negative Team and will verse Grace Lutheran College at 8:15pm on March 8 2017 at St Patrick's College. The topic will be: That voting in elections should be subject to passing a general knowledge test.
Year 12.1 Team are the Negative Team and will verse Bracken Ridge State High School at 8:15pm on March 8 2017 at St Patrick's College. The topic will be: That the US should offer Edward Snowden amnesty.
Year 12.2 Team are the Negative Team and will verse St Paul's School at 7:00pm on March 8 2017 at St Patrick's College. The topic will be: That the US should offer Edward Snowden amnesty.

Voices from the Trenches
Voices from the Trenches begins this March, featuring Voices of Birralee and Brisbane choirs, honouring our Anzacs through music. This festival is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through the Anzac Centenary Grants Program.

Sunday Rehearsals: (9:30am - 4:00pm) at St Patrick’s College.
March 19th, April 23rd, May 7th and 21st.
Monday rehearsals: (3:30pm - 5:30pm) are at St John Fisher College. Students who do not catch the Thompsons Bus please meet Br Pritchard near the pool area before 3:15pm for transportation to St John Fisher by mini bus. Students must arrange pick up from St John Fisher College after rehearsals finish at 5:30pm.
Friday rehearsals: (3:30pm - 5:30 pm) are at St Patrick’s College.
Matinee Performance: St Patrick’s College, 11.00am May 24th
Evening Performances: St Patrick’s College, 7.00pm May 25th - 27th
