Cultural Capers Week 5
On Tuesday some of our Senior and Intermediate Chessmen spent the day at the Brisbane Secondary Interschool Chess Championships at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie). This is a gathering of some of the greats of Interschool Chess.
Our results were amazing considering how early in the season it is!
We competed in two divisions: A Grade (two teams) and B Grade.
Our A Grade 1 team came in seventh behind teams from Churchie, BSHS and Nudgee (the big guns!). They also beat Churchie and Nudgee teams!
Our A Grade 2 team came in twelfth out of 27. Great effort when we filled the team with Intermediate players who had never competed at this level.
Our B Grade team came in an incredible fourth only 2 points behind the winners.
Our players showed great sportsmanship and team spirit and put in wholehearted efforts. It was an impressive display that showcased our Chessmen’s dedication to their game.
With the AIC season fast approaching all I can say is …WATCH THIS SPACE !!
