The Inside Scoop in Sport
Last weekend the College participated in the 2016 Brisbane Schools Handball Championship. Our team won the tournament defeating Brisbane State High 9-8 in the final. Thank you to the many parents who transported students and assisted on the day. Special thanks to Hamish and Paul Langenberg for their expert coaching and organisation.
This week’s final Track and Field meet will be held at the University of Queensland athletics track. This is the last chance for students to post a time, distance, and height in their chosen events. Head coach, Mrs Kate Colahan will consult with all coaches to finalise the team on Saturday. Emails have been sent alerting students of selections. The Track and Field Spirit Assembly will be held next Tuesday. Selected students must be in full formal uniform and Year 10 to 12s in blazers to participate in the spirit assembly. A final team session has been planned for Monday afternoon at Curlew Park. Students should see Mr Ryan Schultz if they have any enquiries. Good luck to our students and coaches for Monday and Wednesday’s AIC Championships. The competition is always tough. The College will be proud of your achievements no matter the result.

Outstanding Student Achievements
Last weekend Matthew Palmer competed in the Coolangatta Gold 32.4km short course Elite Men’s competition coming home in 4th position. What a great achievement competing against many athletes more mature than himself. Matt has pulled up a bit sore in the back and knees and has a few blisters on his hands from the ski paddle, but is very proud and rightly so of his effort. The event consisted of:
SKI 14.6 Coolangatta – Miami
RUN 2.1 Miami – Burleigh
SWIM 2.5 Burleigh beach
BOARD 6.1 Burleigh – Currumbin
RUN HOME 7.1 Currumbin – Coolangatta
