It was great to see all the new parents on Monday evening at the House family night. It was a great opportunity for new parents to meet their son's Big Brother, Group Tutor and also their class teacher. I hope the evening gave families valuable information about the work and expectations in classes as well as an opportunity to meet staff and other families. Thanks to the class teachers for their professional preparation, and having nearly every Group Tutor available on the night was a great sign of the support and involvement from our staff. Particular congratulations also must go to the Seniors who have certainly started to leave their legacy . They have lapped up the opportunities to display their leadership qualities. The younger students have certainly loved the care shown by their 'Big Brothers' in Year 12.

Men of Action Week

Next week all students participate in a Men of Action Week. This program will consist of four sessions run in House Groups. All students will discuss a range of topics which includes:

  • Bullying (types, impact and strategies to deal with bullying behaviour)

The final session requires all students to sign a College pledge in their House.

Year 12 Leadership Afternoon and Information Evening

This will be held on Monday 9 February and all the Seniors are expected to attend. The afternoon will involve meeting with House Deans to plan House activities. We also have a guest speaker who will assist the Seniors in enacting their theme "Shoulder to Shoulder". A BBQ dinner will be provided for the Year 12 students as their attendance is compulsory.

Year 7 Camp and Retreat Program

This will operate during Week 4 (16 February to 20 February). All Year 7 students are expected to attend their camp and retreat as part of their overall curriculum. Forms for the camp need to be returned immediately to the Student Office.

Public Transport

Students who catch the train to and from the College are reminded that they are not to break their journey. If they are changing trains at Northgate Station they must catch the first available train to their destination. Students must not wait around on the platform for friends and then catch the late train, as this often delays their arrival to school.

Scooters and skateboards are not permitted as a means of transport to and from the College.

Non-State Schools Transport Assistance Scheme Website

I have included a link for parents to access information for financial assistance for families transporting students to non-state schools in Queensland, including eligibility criteria, important dates for applying and how much the payments are.
