On Friday last week, we held the Grandparents Mass and morning tea. It was wonderful to see the large amount of grandparents and a great grandparent present to take part in this event. Mr. Mayes used the phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child” and we firmly believe that grandparents play an important role in the formation and development of the young men at St. Patrick’s College. Witnessing the large numbers and seeing the respect shown by the young men towards their grandparents reaffirmed our belief.
This week is an important week in the College sporting calendar as we head to Limestone Park for the annual AIC Cross Country Competition. A large number of staff and students have been involved in preparing the squad ready for this weekend’s competition. We wish all the competitors the best of luck for this event.
Open Day is on Tuesday 16 August between 3.00-6.00pm. We would like many boys attending and participating in the afternoon activities to promote the wonderful community that exists here. A number of roles need to be performed from tour guides to working in classrooms. House Deans and Heads of Curriculum will organise students in various roles and activities. We actively promote our students as the best advertisers of our great College. It would be great if you would also promote this event with your son to make a positive contribution.
There are a number of events that are occurring over the next few weeks that you may be interested in attending:
- Saturday 6 August: AIC Cross Country Championships
- Monday 8 August: Year 11 2017 Subject Selection Evening - Christian Brothers Building
- Friday 12 August: Inter-House Athletics Day - Curlew Park
- Tuesday 16 August: Open Day - 3.00-6.00pm
