This week students on Assembly reflected on the recent devastation in Fiji as a result of the cyclone that hit in late February. As one of the most powerful cyclones ever witnessed in the Southern Hemisphere, the tragic after-effects have been felt by many people across Fiji. Many staff and students at the College have a connection to Fiji and have therefore initiated an appeal to help support the relief efforts. Families are asked to contribute tinned food and clothing to the appeal. Suitable items can be left at the Ministry Office. The College would appreciate any contributions that families can offer. Next week we have a green and gold 'free' dress day, with the gold coin donation penalty also being put towards this appeal.

Next week the College will celebrate St Patrick’s Day with Mass followed by the annual Great Morven Race. This is a “Special Event Day” with all students expected to attend. Year 11 and 12 students will come in for the celebrations before being dismissed at the conclusion of the Great Morven Race.

We have two more rounds of AIC Trimester 1 sports. It is important that all students fulfil their commitments by playing and training hard. Some teams have commenced training for the upcoming Football and Rugby season in Term 2. However, all current sports training sessions are to be given precedence over Term 2 sport training. It is also important that students are not overcommitting themselves as we move into a very important academic time of the term.

All students should be completing regular study on a nightly basis leading into the exam period. Please take the time to sit down with your sons, identify the dates for their exams and assist in helping them prepare a study timetable for them.
