Week 7 in Culture
This week in Culture we have Debating results, a reminder about the Music Performance Night, and training time reminders for Debating, Theatresports and Chess Club.
The 2016 Queensland Debating Union season has kicked off with a bang, and St Patrick’s College Year 9 and Year 11 Debating teams all saw victory on March 2. In particular, congratulations must go to the 11.1 team of TJ Reupena, Sam Hanelt and Ethan Green, who won by a convincing 5 point margin against St Columban’s School.
Debating on March 9 was a mixed bag: the 12.1s were victorious by 2 points in what was a very close and high quality debate. Sadly, our 12.2s went down by a margin of 4, but a remarkable first time job by Zekiel Sinclair and Jeremiah Dufourq, who did very well indeed. Our 10.1 team also sadly walked away two points down to their opposition.
Next week, our Year 8 debaters commence their season out at Albany Creek State High School with the topic: That professional sports should have a separate league in which the use of performance enhancing drugs is permitted. All supporters welcome.
We encourage anyone interested in debating to think about helping their House out later in the year for Interhouse Debating; to get really geared up, however, supporting SPC at a debate by spectating will give you all the training you need. We look forward to seeing you there.
