This week in Culture we have details of an upcoming Theatresport competition, information from Co-Curricular Music, and training time reminders for Debating, Theatresports and Chess Club.
2016 has started off positively, with students beginning lessons and ensembles, and many students continuing on from last year. If your son is interested in joining lessons and ensemble, it is not too late for him to sign up. Music Performance and Events Calendar
Attached to this article is a linkto the Music Performance and Events Calendar. This calendar outlines all performance dates for all ensembles in Semester One as well as Cultural Support Group meetings,and assemblies. Please make sure this is posted on your fridge so you know well in advance about upcoming performances.
Mr Consiglio and Mr Hockey started their vocal groups last week. It is also not too late for your son to sign up for these groups. Mr Hockey’s Junior Vocal group (Years 5-8) meets on a Wednesday Lunchtime in W201 and Mr Consiglio’s Senior Vocal Group meets on a Thursday morning from 7:30am, also in W201. If your son is interested in joining either of these groups, please e-mail the respective teachers at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. Alternatively, feel free to just come along to the rehearsal.
Vocal and Piano Tuition
This year we are offering vocal and piano lessons to students in Years 7-12. Mr Consiglio will be taking the vocal lessons and Mr Michael Manikus will be taking piano lessons. Both of these tutors have a wealth of experience in their
field of tuition. More About Our Talented Staff - Mr Nicolas Consiglio
Mr Consiglio has been playing the piano for approximately 18 years and has been a professional accompanist since 2008. He currently holds a C.Mus AGM Light Classical Piano (Dist.), P. Dip AGM Pianoforte (Dist.), Cert. Perf. CPM AMEB (Dist.) and a Cert. Perf. Piano for Leisure AMEB (Dist.). In 2011, he accompanied and sang with the St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace Chapel Choir on their tour throughout Italy, culminating in a performance in St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. In 2012, he was a part of the inaugural Gregory Terrace/All Hallows’ choir that performed at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Gallipoli.

Please note the finishing times of Chess Club:
- Senior Chess Club (Years 9 to 12) – Monday 3:00pm to 4:30pm
- Junior Chess Club (Years 5 to 8) – Tuesday 3:00pm to 4:15pm
With the QDU debating season soon to begin, Monday and Tuesday afternoon training will be from 3pm-4.30pm:
- Monday, E208: Year 9 and 10 debaters
- Tuesday, E208: Year 8 debaters
Students will need to bring a pen and exercise book.
Biscuits and cordial will be provided.
