Culture Report Week 24
This week in Culture there are reminders for QDU Debating, Co-curricular Music and Battle of the Bands competition, as well as information about the upcoming annual St. Patrick's College Arts Show.
St. Patrick's College Arts Show
It has come to that time of year again!! Come one, come all! St. Patrick's College will be holding our inaugural Arts Show, Tuesday 18 August (Open Day).
It is a time when we get to share the many creations our students have been diligently working on - all are revealed to the public eye. Our students have been working hard to produce an array of imaginative and creative art works ranging from drawings, paintings and sculptures of various materials.
Works have been collated from all years - from Years 5 through to 12, including works from Junior and Senior Art Clubs. Film, Television and New Media will deliver a Claymation presentation as well as their innovative productions.
During the Art Show you will also be privileged to hear and see our musical talents performing an assortment of harmonious tunes, which, without a doubt, will add to the atmosphere of Open Day. The ensemble groups will also be performing at various venues on Open Day, which will culminate in the Battle of the Bands Competition in the Callan Centre.
Drama will be providing some sneak peaks of major productions in the works. Come and see how the dramatic routines are played out behind the scenes.
Parents and friends are welcomed to view the displayed works during Open Day in the Waterford Building - Tuesday 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Alternatively viewings are also open on Monday 17, Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 August from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.

QDU Debating News – Mrs Lorraine O'Sullivan - Debating Coordinator (email@example.com)
Our Grade 11.1 team will be in battle once again this Friday night, but this time against the feminine force of the girls from Brisbane Girls Grammar School in the quarter finals at 7pm at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, arguing "That the liberal movement in the US should regret the overwhelming support for Hilary Clinton's candidacy." St. Patrick's College is arguing the affirmative case.
I strongly urge the Paddies' Batallion to be out in force at Brisbane Girls Grammar School Friday night in support of our team. I am sure Ms Hewitt and a large contingent of Girls' Grammar supporters will be present.
Luke Vanni's Grade 7.1 team will be debating against All Hallows School at 6.15pm on Thursday 20 August. They'll be arguing "That Year 7 should still be in primary school." Our students will be arguing the affirmative case. This topic bodes well for an interesting debate.
