On Wednesday 13 May, St. Patrick's College Foundation held its third annual Business Breakfast. The breakfast was well attended by over 70 members of our local community including parents, past students, politicians and local businesses.

Thank you to all those who attended and our sponsors – Sandgate RSL, Bank of Queensland Aspley and Sandgate, Coffee Club Sandgate and Bertoldi Architects. It's delightful to see so many members of the St. Patrick's College Community eager to ensure our Foundation's success.

The breakfast was an excellent morning and an opportunity for the community to gather and support the quality education currently provided by St. Patrick's College.

Our guest speaker was past student and current Managing Director of Senex, Mr Ian Davies. Ian's speech was both inspiring yet humbling. It was remarkable to hear Ian's extensive work experience and success at such a young age. Ian has certainly lived by the advice he imparted on us at the breakfast – not to be afraid to take risks and take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself. For those of us who have sons, it was also a comfort to hear that despite not being strong academically whilst at school, Ian had that "light bulb" moment and as a result was motivated to succeed. As parents I think we can all hang on to that hope!

The breakfast also enabled the Foundation to highlight the worthwhile work we are doing around the Bursary program. Our Foundation Chair, Ms Tamara Wecker, presented Mr Mayes with a cheque for $25 000 to cover the cost of our three current bursary recipients. We are truly making a difference to the lives of these young men and we can only offer these bursaries due to the generosity of our community. Thank you.

If you would like to support the Foundation financially or sponsor any of our future events please don't hesitate to call me on 3631 9052.
