Culture Report Week 15
This week in Culture there is information on Chess Club, Debating results for Years 8, Youth Theatresports reminder dates and the College Musical ticket sales ( Book tickets here »). The College Musical...tonight, Friday 22 May and Saturday 23 May...which night will you attend?
Last Friday we hosted Villanova College in our first home round in Waterford. Due to camps and illnesses the opportunity arose to include some of our Year 5 developing players in the squad. These young men seemed to thoroughly enjoy the chance to play and watch AIC Chess in action and may justify inclusion in further matches this season. Matthew Pollard (Year 10) was promoted into the temporary vacancy in our Firsts and played exceptionally well to win both of his games.
Overall it was a solid 7 points to 3 victory for the SPC Chessmen. This Friday we play St Peters Lutheran College in another home game.

QDU Debating News – Mrs Lorraine O'Sullivan - Debating Coordinator ( firstname.lastname@example.org)
Last night St Patrick's Year 8.1 narrowly lost to St Columban's College in an extremely close, but high quality and well-fought debate "That children spend too much time in front of screens."
The fourth round of this preliminary competition will begin on Thursday 28 May (State of Origin is on the Wednesday night) for Year 9 and 11 teams. All teams except Year 9 will have a secret topic debate in Round Four. The Year 9 topic is "That we should ban public speeches and appearances by anti-vaccination advocates."
Debating captain, Harrison Hanelt, is busy organising a staff/student debate to promote support for the final Year 12 debate on 3 June. Keep an eye on the Daily notices for the time and place of this spectacular event.
