Welcome back to 2015. I hope the New Year has started positively for you and your family. I look forward to my new role as Head of Sport at St. Patrick's College. My office is located within the College Gym. Please feel free to phone, email or personally drop in to discuss any issues regarding all things sport anytime throughout the year.

During the holidays three groups of students, teachers and community members participated in sporting tours and camps.

55 students travelled to Melbourne to compete in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup. Our Under 16 team were our most successful team during the five day competition, finishing second in the Division Two draw.

The World Schools Cricket Challenge in Melbourne saw 22 very keen St. Patrick's cricketers compete against various Australian, Indian and New Zealand schools. Our first XI placed second overall in Division One, which was a fantastic result.

The annual Swim Camp went to Currimundi Recreation Camp for three days of training and team bonding activities. Surf school and the delicious food served were the highlights reported back from some very tired students on their return to St. Patrick's.

Thank you to all students, staff and parents for your assistance before, during and after these tours and camps. Without your support these opportunities would not be available to our young men.

Friday night is the first of our AIC Swimming meets. All swimmers are encouraged to attend. A bus sign on sheet is located outside Mr Loudon's Year 5 classroom in the Morrissey Building or in the College Gym. Please refer to the SPC Swimming Connect page (https://connect2.stpatricks.qld.edu.au/StudentLife/Sport/Swimming/default.aspx) for training times or contact Mr Blake Loudon on the email link provided below. This week's swim meet details are also provided below.

This Saturday our Cricket and Volleyball season kicks off with trial games against St Peter's Lutheran College, Indooroopilly. Students' attendance at training is very important this week to ensure coaches consider them for team selections. All training times have been posted on the individual sport's pages on Connect. Contact details for the coordinators are listed below.

Full St. Patrick's sports uniforms are expected to be worn for Saturday's trials.
