Our Trimester One awards ceremony for Swimming, Cricket and Volleyball scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until later this term. It was anticipated that work on the new hall would have progressed to allow a full school assembly. However slow building progress still only allows limited numbers of students in the Callan Centre. Once a new date has been confirmed it will be communicated to our community.

Over the holidays a number of sporting activities were conducted. Our First XI and Year 10 Football teams competed at the Edmund Rice Education Australia Football tournament held at St Laurence's College playing fields, Runcorn. The First XI coached by Mr Gary Ward played top class Football and where crowned tournament Champions winning the final 5 – 0 against St James College. The team didn't concede a goal all week. The Year 10 team placed 3rd in their division, which was a great result in a very tough competition.

Numerous students attended Rugby camps and participated in various trial games. The students participated in trial games against Knox Grammar and St Aloysius College (Sydney schools), Brisbane State High and St Laurence's College.

Our Cross Country runners enjoyed a tour to Canberra. St Edmund's, Canberra hosted the students. During the 5 days the students covered 45km in training plus an 18km hike to the top of Mount Kosciusko. Tour highlights included visiting Parliament, the Royal Australian Mint, running at the International Stromlo Mt venue, and participating in the Last Post ceremony after viewing the exhibits around the Australian War Memorial. The students attended both an AFL and NRL game during their time in Canberra.

Today the students participated in Football and Rugby trials against Padua. No games are scheduled for this Saturday due to Anzac Day. The AIC season kicks off on Saturday 2 May. Parents and students are reminded to access training and game information via the sports specific Connect pages. Students must be in full St. Patrick's sports specific uniform from Saturday 2 May. Students should visit the Uniform Shop to purchase any requirements as soon as possible.

A special thank you to our many parent and community helpers who volunteered to assist in the canteens during Term One. The parent volunteer Sport Support Group require your assistance throughout the Football and Rugby season. Please offer your assistance while your son is completing their team warm ups at Curlew Park. If all parents all were able to assist for thirty minutes the massive job accomplished by Sport Support Group parent volunteers would be greatly reduced.

The Shorncliffe Shufflers are enjoying the cooler temperatures on Sunday mornings at present. Students and all community members are welcome to join the group for either a 30 or 60 minute run starting at 7am, meeting in the plaza. At present attendance by the older community members are outnumbering the students!

St. Patrick's would like to continue to acknowledge the generous support of Sandgate Snap Fitness in Brighton Terrace. Snap Fitness generously donated a 3 month unlimited membership plus personal trainer sessions and $150 supplement voucher for the Canberra Cross Country tour raffle.
