Debating News

St Patrick’s College’s debating teams continue to enjoy growth and improvement in 2019.

The 12.1 team made up of Year 11 students Ethan Noble, Jared Noble, Connor Stewart and River Brunsmann remain undefeated after three rounds of the QDU heats and will qualify for finals.

The 12.2 team will have to score a victory in round 4 on May 29 to qualify for finals after losing their opening debate, winning in round 2 and splitting the points with their opponents after a QDU adjudicator failed to attend their round 3 tie.

The Year 10 team recorded a narrow loss in round 3 and will be aiming to show an improved performance in round 4.

The Year 9 and Year 11 teams both remain in the hunt for finals places as they head into their final preliminary rounds of competition next week.

News will soon be published regarding the launch of Year 7 debating. Stay tuned.

Junior Film Crew

2019 has seen the launch of an exciting new club for students in Years 6 to 8. Junior Film Crew teaches up-and-coming film enthusiasts the basics of photography and cinematography to give them the core skills to get started in filmmaking. We have started this term looking at still cameras and learning the basics of taking a great photograph. Also this term, the students have a challenge of creating a stop-motion animation to show off their new photography skills. If this sounds exciting to you, it is not too late to join! We meet Tuesday afternoon from 3:15pm to 4:15pm in B1A1. Email Mrs Lucy Hulme: for any questions or information.
