Thursday, saw myself and four of our young men take part in the Moreton Bay Legal Association High School Challenge. This year’s team consisted of Patrick Taylor (Year 12), Sean Dodd (Year 12), River Brunsmann (Year 11) and Jared Noble (Year 11). These students prepared, over the course of 3 weeks, a legal argument in response to a complex criminal law question. This question challenged both our teams and their opposition due to the challenging nature of the topic and implications of failing to advocate effectively for our client. Our two teams competed professionally and created a very successful and impressive mock trial, which has helped to develop their advocacy skills in ways that can’t be replicated in a classroom. A large thank you must be given to Mr Robertson and Mr Brough for their assistance and guidance throughout the past few weeks, as the focus is now put to the upcoming QUT-run moot in Term 3.
