Working in Partnership with Parents
Over the past couple of weeks St Patrick’s College has held a series of events with our families as part of our 2026 Working in Partnership with Parents initiatives. These events play an important role in strengthening the connection between home and the College, recognising the vital influence families have on student growth and wellbeing.
Families and students in Years 7 to 9 took part in engaging presentations and guided discussions led by experienced facilitators. The evening was warmly received, with positive feedback highlighting the value of shared learning and meaningful connection.
The Years 7 and 8 sessions, facilitated by Ms Rachel Dunston from organisation Time and Space, focused on relationships and personal growth. Students attended with a significant male figure in their lives, creating space to reflect on their journey into adolescence. Supported by our Year 11 student facilitators, families engaged in guided conversations, culminating in a one-on-one discussion that encouraged open dialogue and strengthened relationships.
Our Year 9 families participated in a practical and engaging financial literacy session led by Mr Dominic Aarsen, founder of Moneyvest. Together, parents and students explored key money management concepts and discussed how these apply within their own family context. The session provided valuable, real-world insights and encouraged ongoing conversations about financial responsibility at home.
These evenings continue to highlight the importance of partnership in supporting young people. By creating opportunities for open discussion and shared understanding, equipping our students with the skills and confidence they need for the future.
We look forward to continuing this initiative with our next Working in Partnership with Parents evening occurring on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. This session will be offered to families in Years 5, 6, 10 and 11, with further details to be shared closer to the date.
