As we near the midpoint of Term 2, it is important that we continue to work in partnership to help the boys maintain a strong sense of energy and focus. Your ongoing reinforcement of expectations and encouragement at home plays a vital role in supporting your son’s formation and growth, and we are deeply grateful for the strength of this partnership. I also wish to extend a warm welcome to those students and families who have joined our community this term.

Last week, our community gathered to celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice, a significant celebration in the life of our College. We are invited not only to honour his legacy but to reflect on how his example continues to shape who we are and who we are called to be as members of this community. In my address to the students, I reflected on our 2026 theme, “Unite with Purpose and Act with Courage,” and the responsibility we all share in bringing the spirit of Edmund Rice to life in our words and actions. Edmund Rice was a man of deep faith, courage, and vision, who believed in the transformative power of education grounded in care and strong relationships. For our young men, this serves as both an invitation and a challenge. Each student is not simply part of the story of this College; they are actively shaping it. The spirit of our College is nurtured by being lived out through their daily choices: how they treat others, the effort they apply to their learning, and the way they contribute to a community built on respect, compassion, and justice. I invited students to consider a simple but powerful question: If Edmund Rice were to walk through our College today, what would he see? Would he recognise his vision in the way we learn, lead, and interact with one another? Ultimately, the legacy of Edmund Rice is sustained not through words alone, but through action. It is expressed in the choices we make each day — choosing purpose over apathy, courage over convenience, and community over self-interest.

We have also been treated to a wonderful example of this spirit in action through our recent Junior Musical, Madagascar. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our young performers and those who joined us from other local schools. Their collective energy, enthusiasm, and commitment brought the production to life. My sincere thanks to Ms Kristin Cadoo-Dagley for her outstanding leadership and direction of the musical, and to the many staff, technical crew, and members of the Cultural Support Group whose time, care, and expertise ensured its success. These opportunities are only possible through the generosity and dedication of so many within our community, and we are grateful for the way they enrich the life of the College.

As we continue throughout this term, may we all be inspired and empowered to play our part in ensuring that the spirit of Edmund Rice remains strong and authentically lived in both the everyday moments and the significant occasions of College life.

Live Jesus in Our Hearts!
