How does the House system work and can my son choose which House he'll be in?

Young men of St. Patrick's are welcomed into one of nine Houses as a means to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The House system also provides leadership opportunities for young men. Each House is led by a House Dean and comprises approximately 130 students from Years 5 to 12. Throughout their life at St. Patrick's, students belong to a House Tutor Group of 20 students, which is led by a Group Tutor, and is made up of students from each year level. Tutor Groups are an integral component in developing an environment of trust, support and friendship.

Students are randomly assigned to Houses, though brothers will usually be placed in the same House. Sons of Old Boys will also generally be supported in maintaining traditional affiliation with a specific House, where possible.
