Brother Quane was the third Principal at St Patrick’s College.
He was Principal from 1964 to 1965.
Brother Quane’s first major achievement was reducing the class sizes in the
primary school to a manageable limit.
He also faced financial difficulties and was forced to restructure the
fees at the college. His ability in
this area allowed the College to improve its sporting facilities.
Br Quane established a Sports Committee and kindled a new interest
amongst parents and students. St
Patrick’s College returned to The Associated Schools competition.
Br Quane spoke highly of the parents associated with St Patrick’s College.
In both his annual reports he expressed thanks to the ladies in the
tuckshop for the work they did in feeding the young men of St Patrick’s College.
Br Quane resigned from the position of Principal at the end of 1965.
This was mainly due to ill-health.
Br Quane had worked hard and with success to imbue the boys with a spirit
of work and enthusiasm. Br Quane
died at the Mater
Hospital, Brisbane, in 1994, aged seventy-six years.
